Philtranco holdup suspect indicted


DAET, Camarines Norte -- One of four suspects in the armed robbery of a Philtranco bus in Sta. Elena town last Jan. 30 was charged with armed robbery before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office here on Friday.

Capalonga town police chief Senior Insp. Rodel B. Pili identified the accused as Noriel Villanueva Capoy, 23, who was nabbed by joint elements of the Capalonga and Sta. Elena Police Stations and the Police Provincial Office and Intelligence Section in Sitio Oboob, Bgy. Del Pilar, Capalonga.

According to Pili, Capoy was among four men identified by some of the passengers who boarded the Manila-bound Philtranco bus (EVK 157) in Bgy. Talobatib, Labo town, who robbed the bus upon reaching Bgy. Bulalakin, Sta. Elena town. The suspects armed with a cal. .45 pistol, a .38 revolver and bladed weapons robbed all 21 passengers of the bus of some P150,000 worth of jewelries and cellphones.

Police composit units pursued the suspects after they fled towards the hinterlands of Bgy. Villa Aurora, Capalonga, where Capoy was arrested.                     Sonny Sales
