Bullet-riddled street food vendor found dead


SAN Isidro, Nueva Ecija -- A 45-year-old street food vendor of ‘one-day-old chicks’ was found dead with three gunshot wounds in the head, police said yesterday.

Provincial police director Senior Supt. Roberto L. Aliggayu identified the victim as Rommel Paez, of Bgy. Bagong Silang, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.

Paez’s body was discovered along Gov. Joson Road in Bgy. Poblacion here at around 4:30 a.m. Friday. Three empty slugs for cal. .45 pistol were found at the scene.

Police said the victim was also engaged in illegal drugs trade and was tagged as the 4th most-wanted drug pusher in the station’s watch list.

Prior to his death, the victim had a pending drug case before the Gapan City Regional Trial Court Branch 36.

Provincial police intelligence chief Supt. Ricardo E. Villanueva said they are eyeing the victim’s involvement in illegal drugs as the possible motive behind the killing. Steve A. Gosuico
