A SUSPECTED drug user was killed while his companion was arrested by Davao City policemen during operation the other day.
Senior Supt. Ronald dela Rosa, Davao City police director, identified the fatality as alias Umpar Macaric, 16, of Purok 4, Isla Verde, Davao City. The arrested suspect was identified as Allan Ampaso Germon, 21, also from the same place.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed the incident occurred along mini-forest located on Quezon Boulevard, Davao City.
Initial investigation showed that elements of Davao City Police Office led by Senior Insp. Ronald Law conducted a follow-up operation for a reported robbery-holdup incident in the mini-forest when they saw the suspects talking to each other and showing two sachets of suspected shabu.
Law enforcers approached the two suspects and arrested Allan but Umpar ran away, pulled out a gun and fired at the officers, who returned fire, killing Umpar.
Recovered from Umpar were two sachets of suspected shabu and a caliber .22 revolver owned by the suspect. Zaida Delos Reyes-Palanca
