THE Supreme Court has allowed the Commission on Elections to resume its probe into the alleged poll irregularities committed during the May 10, 2010 elections in Davao del Sur.
The green light came after the High Tribunal junked for lack of merit a petition filed by incumbent Gov. Douglas Cagas questioning an order issued by the Comelec in relation to the electoral protest lodged by his rival Claude Bautista.
Cagas was proclaimed winner with 163,440 votes, while Bautista garnered 159,527 votes.
However, citing alleged irregularities, vote-buying and violations of the election rules and resolutions, Bautista filed an electoral protest on May 24, 2010.
