Hunt for leader of Laguna prostitution ring pressed

THE Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group yesterday pressed its hunt for a female pimp tagged as the leader of a Laguna-based escort service ring luring even minors into prostitution, PNP-CIDG chief, Director Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr. announced yesterday.

Pagdilao said that in coordination with the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking of the Department of Justice, his men have launched the hunt for the suspect identified only thru his alias “Nikki.”

He said that “Nikki” was identified as the “brains” behind a Laguna-based prostitution ring which was smashed by officers following an operation in Biñan town 11:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

The operation led by the CIDG Women and Children Protection Division headed by Supt. Emma Libunao resulted in the rescue of 13 sex workers including two minors.

The rescue operation came shortly after an entrapment operation at the Frezco Resort located at Almamanso Street in San Antonio, Biñan which resulted in the arrest of three suspects including a 27-year-old sister of “Nikki.”

The suspects accompanied the 13 rescued victims to undercover officers who posed as customers of the flesh trade. “Nikki” was not around during the operation.

Libunao said the operation stemmed from a complaint they received last January 26 that a certain “Nikki” of Sta. Rosa, Laguna is operating an escort service ring wherein some of the victims being peddled for sexual services are minors.

The complaint said that “Nikki” is a well-known pimp in Laguna who offers commercial sex to clients, some of them prominent people in Sta. Rosa City and other Laguna municipalities. “Nikki’s” asking price ranges from P1,500 to P2,500.

Acting on the complaint, the CIDG-WCPD last Sunday launched a surveillance operation and a “test-buy” in the area. After a deal was settled by the CIDG operatives via a telephone call, “Nikki” personally delivered two young girls at the Happy King Hotel in Biñan to undercover agents.

The CIDG-WCPD did not explain why “Nikki” was not arrested last Sunday and what happened to the two young girls.
