FORMER President-turned Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo yesterday asked the Sandiganbayan First Division to allow her to visit today  the wake of his older brother, Arturo de la Rosa Macapagal and attend the latter’s interment on Saturday at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Mrs. Arroyo wanted also to return to the wake of her brother from four o’clock in the afternoon until eight in the evening today since the anti-graft division only permitted her to go there last Tuesday, yesterday (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Friday).

“She lost the opportunity to see him alive one last time when he passed away in the morning of August 10. She was a few hours too late.

She could not be there for him in the last few days of his life. She is hoping to be there for him for four additional hours in his death,” the motion said. “An extra day (an additional four hours) in the company of family in this moment of bereavement will help assuage the terrible pain of losing a brother to a terrible illness.”

Mrs. Arroyo also asked the anti-graft division to attend the burial of his brother at the Heritage Park in Taguig City from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon this Saturday.

She also wanted to attend the ninth day of his brother’s death on August 19, 2015 at No. 15 Avocado St., Valle Verde I, Pasig City.

The anti-graft court asked the prosecution to comment on Mrs. Arroyo’s request.

Macapagal, son of former President Diosdado Macapagal from his first wife Purita de la Rosa, died Monday morning at the Makati Medical Center due to stage four prostate cancer or a few hours before Mrs. Arroyo’s scheduled visit.

The former President is currently detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City since 2012 after being charged of plunder case which stemmed from alleged misuse of P366-million intelligence funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) from 2007 to 2010.
