Man, 70, shot dead

BAUAN, Batangas -- A 70-year-old jobless man was shot dead while an ice cream vendor was wounded by two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen while on board a tricycle in San Diego St., Bgy. Poblacion 4 here, yesterday afternoon.

Bauan Police Station OIC Chief Insp. Alfie M. Salang identified the victim as Rolando Muñoz, married, and the vendor as Alejandro Rogelio, 30, married, a native of Victoria, Occidental Mindoro and resident of San Antonio, San Pascual, Batangas.
Initial investigation disclosed that Muñoz hitched a ride in Rogelio’s tricycle from Bgy. Aplaya, Bauan at 12:10 p.m. Friday.
While the tricycle was cruising along San Diego St., Bgy Poblacion 4, the two unidentified armed suspects suddenly came from behind and without any apparent reason shot Muñoz several times in different parts of the body.
The suspects immediately fled after the shooting incident.
Muñoz was brought to Bauan General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
