THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) quickly suspended the operations of buses in Visayas and Mindanao due to Typhoon Auring.
In a statement, LTFRB Board Member Atty. Aileen Lizada said they quickly issued the suspension order due to declaration of typhoon signal number 1 in Cebu province as RoRo bus trips in Lilian (Santander), Toledo, Tabuelan and Hagnaya (Bogs) have been cancelled since Sunday.
Lizada, who is also the spokesperson of LTFRB, said buses plying these routes are advised to stay at their respective terminals and provide their passengers ready access to food and personal amenities.
Bus operators plying Ormoc, Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor and Negros Oriental routes are advised to get in touch with the LTFRB before travelling.
Auring made its fourth landfall in Ubay, Bohol yesterday morning, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The typhoon was slightly weaker, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 75 kph, PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard said some 9,000 people have been stranded at ports in areas affected by the typhoon.
