SENATOR Leila de Lima has described Solicitor General Jose Calida as a “sycophant” after he labeled her “Public Enemy No. 1” supposedly for being a hindrance to the Duterte administration’s all-out war against illegal drugs.
Calida has accused De Lima of undermining the President’s war against drugs as she continues to deplore the unabated extrajudicial killings (EJKs) of suspected drug dealers and drug users.
The SolGen made the remark against De Lima during the launching of the Coalition Against Illegal Drugs (COIL) on Monday where he assured of assistance anyone who will file a complaint against her.
De Lima lamented that the “emerging comprehensive program of this administration (against illegal drugs) revolves around death and killing.”
“In the same vein, his (President Duterte’s) sycophants like Calida and (blogger Mocha) Uson are only expected to echo his insanity, the same way his crazy ideas are simply echoed inside the empty skull of his fanatic followers,” she said.
“So I would not put it beyond them to attack voices of reason and call their enemies names. These people are already out of their minds and can be regarded as mentally sick themselves. As such, I'd rather not dignify yet another act of lunacy on the part of those evil minds. They're as unhinged as their principal,” she said.
She added: “Given that around 20 or more are being summarily executed every day, it is even an understatement that Duterte will execute only a quarter of that number every day once the death penalty law is passed.”
“I won’t put it beyond him to order the execution of twice that number, just to match the statistics on EJKs. We cannot do anything about that except to protest, since the President himself is single-minded in his version of the ‘final solution’ to the nation's problems, i.e., more executions, whether summary or legal,” she said.
