A 41-year-old convict bolted the New Bilibid Prison early dawn Monday, according to a report submitted by Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre.
BuCor Director Benjamin delos Santos identified the escapee as Noland Cano, of 47 Casoy St., Verdant Acres Subd., Pamplona Tres, Las Piñas City.
Delos Santos said Cano escaped early dawn Monday from his cell at the NBP Minimum Security Compound.
He added that he ordered a thorough investigation on how Cano managed to escape.
“Under investigation po ngayon ang mga prison guard na naka-duty nang araw na tumakas si Cano. Inaalam na rin po kung may kasabwat na prison guard ang nasabing preso sa kanyang pagtakas” Delos Santos said.
Records showed that Cano was committed at the NBP on December 2, 2008 following conviction on homicide charges after he was sentenced from 10 to 17 of imprisonment by Las Piñas Regional Trial Court Branch 275.
Delos Santos said Cano is set to be released after serving minimum sentence for the homicide case but will be transferred to Muntinlupa City Jail where he has a pending case.
