Batangas -- A 43-year-old farmer was shot dead by an unidentified gunman while walking towards to his parked vehicle in Bgy. Matabungkay, here, on Wednesday.
Town police chief Senior Insp. Joel Lozano Espano identified the slain farmer as Manolito Diño Caranza, alias Agnon, married, of Sitio Altura, Bgy. Matabungkay.
Barangay Kagawad Normelita Decilos reported the incident to the police station at 9:40 a.m.
A team, led by Espano, along with SPO1s Sherwin Nasaluddin Caparas and Michael Tolentino Fronda, were dispatched to the area.
Investigation showed that at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, the victim was walking towards his owner-type jeep which was parked in a vacant lot when the two unidentified suspects wearing caps approached and shot the victim to death.
The suspects immediately fled on a motorcycle with unknown plate number.
Lian PS requested assistance from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) investigators, who found one fired cartridge casing for cal. .45 at the scene.
In Batangas City, an unidentified body of a man, wearing red short and yellow T-shirt, about 5’5” to 5’8” in height, 25-35 years old, was found by a tricycle driver slumped on the national road in Bgy. Pallocan East, the other day.
Upon receiving a report from the Police Assistance Center (PAC), Senior Insp. Richard de Guzman, together with investigators, immediately responded.
Investigators said that at about 6 a.m., Lito Macalalad, 52, married, a tricycle driver, of Pallocan East, was walking in the area when he discovered the victim’s hands tied with wire, his face wrapped with masking tape and a piece of bond paper with the words, “’Wag ako tularan adik ako,” found on his body.
The victim also bore gunshot wounds in the head, said Scene of the Crime Operatives team leader Insp. Camille Ocfemia. Also recovered at the scene were four fired cartridge casings for cal. 9mm.
The victim’s body was brought to Filipinas Funeral Homes, Bgy. Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas City.
