THREE suspected carnappers were killed in a shootout the other day on the national highway in Aleosan, North Cotabato.

The fatalities were identified as Dante Mingawan, 37, Bohari Manalo, 24, and Pikboy Abo, both of Pikit, North Cotabato.
According to Aleosan police chief Senior Insp. Junrel Amutan, the suspects were known to be responsible for a series of motorcycle thefts in the area and other nearby provinces.
Amutan said elements of Aleosan Police Station had received reports that two motorcycles were stolen in the area so they immediately responded and later encountered the suspects.
Instead of surrendering the suspect tried to shoot the policemen that prompted the latter to return fire resulting to the suspects’ death.
Recovered from the suspects’ possession were a caliber .45 pistol, a cal. .38 revolver, empty shells and two motorcycles stolen by the suspects.
