THREE Chinese nationals and their four Pinoy workers were arrested on Friday by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in connection with separate raids that netted an estimated P4.5 million worth of fake Unilever shampoo, lotion and soap products, PNP-CIDG director, Chief Superintendent Roel B. Obusan said yesterday.
Acting on a complaint from Unilever Philippines, Obusan said his men from the Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit raided a store in Quiapo, Manila and a storage facility in Potrero, Malabon where the suspects were arrested 12:30 p.m. Friday.
The official said that the suspects were arrested after the raiders led by Supt. Raymund A. Liguden recovered counterfeit Unilever products specifically Dove and Vaseline products in a stall in Carriedo Plaza located in Carriedo Street in Quiapo and the warehouse at no. 38 Industrial Avenue, Potrero, Malabon.
The recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to the O.M. Manahan and Associates for temporary safekeeping to prevent pilferage, damage or loss.
Charges for violation of Section 155 or Trademark Infringement under Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines will be filed against the arrested suspects, said Liguden.
