REYNALDO Quirao’s blood was splattered everywhere. Gruesomely, red dots cloaked the faces of his co-workers who could only scream like terrified women. The unwilling witnesses watched helplesly as the 21-year-old helper convulsed and bled to death. He had been squished like a giant tomato between a van and a concrete wall.
The freak vehicular accident occurred Monday night in Navotas City.
Quirao, of LRT Landasca Street, Caloocan City, was rushed by his co-workers to Tondo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival due to massive head and body injuries.
Navotas police traffic investigator PO2 Joseph Provido said the incident happened at around 10:50 p.m. inside the compound of Pipe Bee Corporation at 01 Guillermo St., Bgy. San Rafael Village.
Quirao was helping his co-workers in removing the aluminum van (AKS-339) driven by Margaripo Lopez Jr., 49, from being stuck at the pavement hole by putting a block wood on a rear tire when the vehicle suddenly moved backward and pinned him between the van and the concrete wall.
Navotas police chief Senior Supt. Dante Novicio said the driver of the van is now under police custody pending the filing of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against him before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office.
