A RANKING House leader yesterday said he would recommend the withdrawal of immunity granted by Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to Ronnie Dayan, the former driver-bodyguard and ex-lover of Senator Leila de Lima, for his alleged false testimony during last Thursday’s House Committee on Justice hearing on the proliferation of drug trafficking inside the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP).

Deputy Speaker and Capiz Rep. Fredenil Castro said Dayan should not be accepted either in the Witness Protection Program (WPP) of the Department of Justice (DoJ).

Castro accused Dayan of lying when he denied knowing suspected big-time drug lord Kerwin Espinosa and the people whom De Lima met inside the NBP.

Hindi rin ako naniniwala na nagsasabi siya ng totoo sapagkat sa samahan at damdamin na ito, siya ay nagpo-protekta pa rin kay Senador de Lima,” said Castro, explaining that Dayan knew very well the people whom De Lima met during his stint as the latter’s driver and bodyguard.

Castro warned that Dayan could face trouble for not telling the whole truth before the congressional panel.
