AN ESTIMATED P12 million worth of shabu and marijuana seized by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Southern Mindanao were recently burned in a special facility in Tagum City in Davao del Norte, PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña announced yesterday.

Around 850 grams of shabu worth P.250 million and an estimated P10 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants and seedlings were destroyed, said Lapeña.

Members of the PDEA Regional Office 11 headed by Director Joel Plaza, Davao del Norte Governor Joel Plaza and lawyers Dorothy Montejo-Gonzaga and Sharon Rose Saracin led the personalities who witnessed the destruction of the confiscated drugs.

“We want the public to witness the destruction of dangerous drugs seized by drug enforcement officers in order to allay apprehensions that these illicit substances are being reused, recycled or sold back in the streets,” said Lapeña of the burning ceremonies.
