Macway, Wang’s go for it

DEFENDING champion Macway Travel Club  and Wang’s Ballclub clash anew for the remaining semis berth in the 2016 MBL Open basketball tournament at the EAC Sports Center in Ermita, Manila.

The winner of the 7 p.m. encounter between two teams with contracting credentials will earn the right to meet elimination round topnotcher Emilio Aguinaldo College in  the semis of this  seven-team, three-month long tournament sponsored by Smart Sports, Ironcon Builders, Star Bread, Dickies Underwear and Gerry’s Grill.

The other  semis will pit   pre-tournament  favorite  FEU-Nicanor Reyes MedicalFoundation against Philippine Air Force.

EAC and  FEU-NRMF enjoy twice-to-beat advantages in the semis for finishing 1-2 in the elimination  phase.

Macway finished  with a 4-2 win-loss record,  while Wang’s  Ballclub wound up with 3-3 slate.
Macway defeated Wang’s  Ballclub,  88-79, in  their elimination round encounter at the Rizal Coliseum last Oct. 1.
Leading Macway’s campaign are  ex-PBA  stars Bonbon Custodio, Larry  Rodriguez, Jeff  Sanders, Nino Marquez  and  E.J. Feihl, Mark  Fampulme,  Floyd  Dedicatoria,  Pol  Santiago,   Harold  Sta Cruz, Jiggy Laude, Totot   Mangaran  and  Teng  Reyes  and imports Mike Harry and Jimmy Brown.
Macway, which is  seeking  its second straight  MBL title, is being handled  by coach Daniel Martinez, consultant  Braulio  Lim and managers Erick and Cathy Kirong.
Wang’s Ballclub will be bannered by John Tayongtong,  Cedric  Labing-Isa,  Rey Publico,  Jonathan  Banal, Mark Acosta,  Mark Brana, Eric King, Paul Sanga,  Mark Montuano,  Jacob Lucas,  Abu Dadjilul, Mark Gomez and Mario Reyes.
Leading  the  team are manager Alex Wang and  coach Pablo Lucas.
