Dayan to tell it all today.

The House committee on justice is set to reopen its investigation into the drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) with Dayan as a resource person.

Dayan, the controversial bodyguard and lover of Senator Leila de Lima, was tagged by some drug lords as the one who accepted drug money for the senator who was then Secretary of Justice.

During the turnover to the House of Representatives, Dayan was asked to confirm the allegation that he is  De Lima’s bagman.

While he denied receiving money from drug lords in the NBP, he admitted that he received money from Kerwin Espinosa, a known drug lord in Eastern Visayas.

“Wala po akong tinatanggap na drug money sa mga drug lords. Kay Kerwin meron, para kay senadora po,” Dayan said.
A few hours after he was arrested in La Union by the police forces, Dayan was turned over to Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who issued the arrest warrant due to Dayan’s refusal to attend the hearing.
The lawmakers did not ask Dayan to elaborate further because they want him to testify before the committee hearing.
Dayan is expected to ask for immunity in exchange for testifying before the House panel.
Committee Chairman Rey Umali said they will decide today on whether or not to grant Dayan’s request for immunity.
At present, Dayan is detained at the House Legislative Security Building with the Marines as his guards.
Alvarez guaranteed the safety of Dayan for as long as he is under the custody of the House of Representatives.
Umali assured Dayan that he can leave the House of Representatives premises after his scheduled testimony at the committee.
In an interview, Umali said Congress has no intention of detaining Dayan for a long time since he has no pending case.
The only reason why he was ordered arrested is because he snubbed the invitations of the panel for him to testify.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) likewise said that Dayan is not considered a criminal, that is why he was presented to media without handcuffs.
