CABANATUAN City -- “It was his last My Way.”

A man allegedly belting out this classic song popularized by Frank Sinatra in 1969 was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding assassins here last Saturday, a police report said yesterday.

City police commander Supt. Ponciano P. Zafra identified the slain victim as Benedict Puyat, 32, alias Bumay/Joko, married, of Block 37, Lot 4, AGL Heights, Bgy. Caalibangbangan, this city.

He was reportedly singing the vintage Sinatra tune at a videoke machine owned by his neighbor Ryan Garcia at 5:30 p.m. when he was peppered with bullets by an unidentified pistol-wielding man, who subsequently boarded a motorcycle driven by a cohort before fleeing.

Zafra said the victim died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Probers said the victim was involved in illegal drug activities and included in the barangay’s drug personality watchlist.

Zafra said his men are still exploring other angles behind the murder.
