TWO men were killed in an encounter with a lone policeman shortly after they robbed a pawnshop Friday in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
One of the suspects was identified based on his driver’s license as Amil Colangco, 25, resident of Bitoon, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed that the encounter occurred at around 1:30 p.m. at Lucilo Alkuino street, Poblacion, Valencia City, Bukinon.
According to report, the three suspects barged inside Deposit Pawnshop, took the service firearm of the duty security guard and robbed the establishment.
SPO1 Roger Vicente, who happened to be inside a nearby establishment, saw the incident and immediately responded.
When the suspects were on their way to escape, they were confronted by the policeman. A shootout ensued, resulting in the death of two suspects. The third one managed to flee.
Recovered from the slain suspects were the driver’s license of Colangco, two Samsung cellular phones, a caliber .45 pistol with magazine and live ammunition that was taken from the guard, one caliber .38 revolver loaded with five ammunition, one empty magazine of caliber .45, one hammer and one empty large bag.
Elements of Valencia City Police Station believed the suspects were members of Martilyo Gang operating in the province.
Authorities are now conducting a follow-up investigation in their bid to arrest the other suspect.
