UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas is on a roll.

While taking a break in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference, the Tigresses competed in last weekend’s Unigames women's volleyball tournament and emerged as champions.

Playing like one cohesive unit, UST outlasted reigning UAAP champions La Salle in the semifinals and swept University of Perpetual Help System Dalta in the one-game Final to rule the competition held in Dumaguete City.

After a brief Halloween rest, the Tigresses will be back in the grind.

When the V-League resumes tomorrow for the final day of eliminations, UST will face Pocari Sweat to determine who will clinch the No. 1 seed in the semifinals.

The Tigresses and the Lady Warriors are currently tied in first place at 5-1.

The much-anticipated clash against Pocari Sweat will be UST’s first game since edging Laoag, 22-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-12, last Oct. 19.

During that match, coach Kungfu Reyes was impressed on how the Tigresses displayed tremendous composure under pressure which will come in handy when they face the Lady Warriors.

“Kahit anong outcome nung laro, malaking bagay sa amin yun eh. Yung hinahanap namin na ganoong sitwasyon, yung real scenario, hindi namin maituturo yun eh,” said Reyes.

While UST is the lone collegiate team without a foreign guest player in the semifinals, Pocari Sweat boasts of American reinforcements in Bre Mackie and Kay Kacsits.
