‘BCJ’ member dies in gunfight

A member of the “Batang City Jail (BCJ) Gang” was killed while his companion escaped after they had an encounter with patrolling policemen in Tondo, Manila, early yesterday morning.

The still unidentified suspect died on the spot due to a gunshot wound in the chest and head.
PO3 Dennis Turla, of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (CAPIS), said the incident took place at 1:25 a.m. at the corner of Jose Abad Santos Avenue and Claro M. Recto Avenue in Tondo.
Policemen from the Padre Algue Police Community Precinct (PCP) of the MPD-Station 7 were on patrol when they saw the suspects aboard a plateless motorcycle.
PO1 Erwin Delima was accosting the two when they fired at the cops, prompting the police to fire back.
The suspect was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival while the other escaped toward Claro M. Recto Avenue aboard a motorcycle.
Police said they recovered a cal. .38 gun and eight sachets containing shabu at the scene.
