LIBMANAN, Camarines Sur -- A Mitsubishi van bound for Sorsogon province burst into flames but its six passengers narrowly escaped death on Maharlika Highway in Bgy. Bical, here, about 11:30 midnight of Thursday.

According to the town’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) investigator FO2 Jonel Heremias, the engine of the Mitsubishi van (RCC-661) owned by Romeo Gracilla Jolo, of Sorsogon, overheated, triggering a spark and a sudden blaze.

Heremias said the six passengers were traveling from Bulacan after attending a family member’s wedding and were on their way back to Sorsogon province when the i.cident occurred.

The vehicle owner told fire investigators that his burnt vehicle cost P100,000.
