SAN Juan, Batangas -- A 60-year-old village watchman was stabbed dead by a jobless man after their heated argument in Sitio Pugon, Bgy. Mabalanoy, here, Friday afternoon.
The victim, Narlito Gonzales Girao, married, an active village watchman and a resident of Bgy. Mabalanoy, thsi town, sustained two deep stab wounds in the abdomen. He died while undergoing treatment at Divine Care Hospital with attending physician Dr. Jojo Tadique, investigators SPO1 Reynaldo Briones Red and PO2 Paul Admyr Mauleon Mandocdoc said.
Investigators identified the suspect as Renato Castillo Barcelona, 57, jobless, of Bgy. Mabalanoy.
A hospital staff reported the stabbing incident to San Juan Police Station thru cellphone call at 5:10 p.m. on Friday.
Upon receiving the report, duty investigators immediately responded.
Investigation showed that at about 3:30 p.m., the victim was walking on his way home in Sitio Pugon, Bgy. Mabalanoy, after attending a drinking spree when he was approached and confronted by the suspect.
A heated argument ensued between them and the suspect, who pulled a pointed weapon and stabbed twice the victim, police said.
The suspect then quickly fled on foot.
The body of the victim now lies at Redondo Funeral Services for autopsy.
