IT’s the time of year when people imagine spooks around every corner so it’s not surprising that an old photo purported to show a spirit is viral again, after making the rounds in 2009 and in 2012. This photo stands out from the hundreds of “spirit” photos on the internet because it was allegedly taken in Jasper, Ala.

And since it’s that time of year, we decided to share the photo with you.

Do you see a ghost?

Using the initial photo, we cropped closer and closer until the purported ghost is in the center of the frame. What do you see? A hoax? An illusion? A spirit? The story behind the photo

Although we searched for the person who owns the photo, we could only find the name “Liz Stewart.” Various sites have slightly differing back-stories for the photo.

We all believe we see a ghost or demon behind my aunt in the trees.

For example, GhostPictures.ws says it was submitted with this information: “This is a photo taken on my aunt’s wedding day in 1942 in Jasper, Alabama. It has been in my family for years. We all believe we see a ghost or demon behind my aunt in the trees. We also noticed 4 fingerprints on her wedding dress even with where the hand is behind her. You have my permission to post my photo online. Could you please give me your feedback on this photo. Thank You, Liz. (Photo submitted by Liz Stewart)”

The photo appears on Paranormal.About.com with this information: “This is a photo of my aunt’s wedding day. The year was 1942, and the photo was taken with a box camera. On some of my feedback I’m told it’s not really there! Well, I know it is. This picture has been passed down. Please give me some feedback. I would like too [sic] see what everone [sic] thinks. It was taken in Jasper, Alabama. -- Liz.” Alabama
