A FORMER municipal councilor was killed when he resisted the arresting officers while a son of a deputy chief of police was arrested in a series of anti-illegal drug operations conducted the other day in Pikit, North Cotabato.
The fatality was identified as Dindo Piang, 45, a three-termer municipal councilor and losing vice mayoral candidate in Pikit.
Elements of the Pikit Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit (RAIDU) and Police Regional Office (PRO) 12, led by Supt. Maximo Sebastian, raided the house of the suspect early in the morning in Bgy. Manaulanen.
The report said that the suspect resisted arrest, thus resulting in his death. Recovered near his body was a cal. .45 pistol.
In another operation, police arrested the son of a deputy chief of police for possession of an M60 light machine gun owned by one of the Special Action Force (SAF) troopers who was killed in the bloody Mamasapano encounter on Jan. 25, 2015.
Arrested was Nasser Karim, son of Senior Insp. Sindatu Karim, deputy COP of Pikit.
The raid was conducted based on six search warrants issued by a court against the suspects.
