A tricycle driver was killed in a shootout with policemen who were accosting him for driving a plateless motorcycle and not wearing helmet in Tondo, Manila, yesterday morning.
Dead on arrival at the hospital where he was brought was suspect Mario Rupillo II, 28, of 1394 S. H. Loyola St., Sampaloc, Manila. He took bullets in the different parts of the body.
Investigation by SPO4 Glenzor Vallejo of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (CAPIS) said that before the alleged encounter, an anti-criminality drive was conducted at around 12:30 a.m. at Gate 14 of Delbros at the Parola Compound in Tondo by operatives from the Delpan Police Community Precinct (PCP).
When police flagged down the suspect, he allegedly refused to stop and instead drew a gun and fired at the officers.
Aside from a cal. .38 revolver, also seized by the police were Rupillo’s motorcycle, a black body bag allegedly containing three plastic sachets of shabu and P150.
