SAN Juan police rounded up gamblers using shabu as bets inside a public cemetery Monday, police said yesterday.
A report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula identified the suspects as John Elizardo Bergonia, 27, Benedict Bergonia, 30, Josephine Alba, 24, Richelda Fermante, 23, Dolly Flores, 19, and Yvanne Romualdez, 53, all of 288 San Juan Cemetery, Bgy. West Crame.
The suspects were collared at 4 p.m. during an anti-gambling operation inside the San Juan Cemetery.
The operation was also based on information that the suspects were engaged in selling illegal drugs inside the cemetery.
A team from the San Juan police conducted operation in the area and caught the suspects in the act.
Recovered from the suspects were transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a bottle with several plastic and wood with numbers and cash money.
The suspects were detained, facing charges of violation of Section 13 Art. II, RA 9165 and violation of PD 1602.
