A minor female canteen helper suffered a gunshot wound intended for her live-in partner when the latter was shot by a drunkard with whom he had an argument in Port Area, Manila, at past midnight yesterday.
Robelyn Canda, 17, of Block 1, Dubai, Baseco Compound, Port Area, remains under observation while the unidentified suspect escaped. He was described as about 30 to 35 years old and of small build.
Investigation by the Manila Police District (MPD)-Ermita Station 5 showed that the incident took place at around 12:20 a.m. at Block 1, Gasangan at the Baseco Compound.
The victim was said to be walking with her live-in partner, John-John Flores, 18, when they came across the suspect who was drunk. The suspect cussed at Flores for unclear reasons until an argument ensued.
Flores drew a fan knife and tried to stab the suspect but the latter was able to parry it. The suspect then took out a gun and fired at Flores but missed and hit the victim instead.
