FEU-NRMF to join MBL

FAR Eastern University-NRMF  is the  newest  top team to join  in  the 2016 MBL Open basketball championship.

To be  led  by  several ex-PBA players and  collegiate standouts, FEU-NRMF  will  be  gunning  for  its first-ever  title in  the 17-year  league.

Expected to lead the Fairview, Quezon City-based team  are Arnold Gamboa, Egay Billones,  Kiko  Adriano, Al Vergara and  Eric  Rodriguez  and   Clay Crellin, Edwin Asoro, Dexter Zamora, Guy  Esono  and  Baracuda Arafat.

Gamboa played eight years for Sta. Lucia,  San Miguel and Purefoods;  Billones suited  up  for eight seasons with Purefoods,  Talk N Text   and  Air21;  Adriano saw action for seven years with Sta.Lucia,  San Miguel and Red Bull; Vergara   played  four seasons for  Purefoods,  Barako Bull and Globalport; and Rodriguez played three seasons for Air21,  Meralco and Ginebra.
The  team is fully supported by FEU-NRMF administrator Nino Reyes.
FEU-NRMF is a world-class academic and training institution providing excellent health care services.
A  non-stock, non-profit educational foundation,  FEU-NRMF established a modern medical school  and   hospital last. Dec. 22, 1996 with   no les than NRMF chairman and former FEU  president Dr. Josephine S. Cojuangco-Reyes presiding over the  ground-breaking ceremony.
To date, FEU-IM ranks  third overall with the highest passing averages  among medical schools.        
Last Saturday, defending  champion Macway Travel Club brought down New San Jose Builders, 90-74, to launch its bid for back-to-back title on a high note.
Former Lyceum  standout Pol Santiago, ex-PBA mainstays Bonbon  Custodio and Nino Marquez,  Jemal Vizcarra and Mark Fampulme  provided the  firepower for Macway, which is seeking a fitting follow-up to its title  conquest in May 2016.
Santiago scattered 15 points while Custodio and Marquez contributed 11 points for  the  Daniel Martinez-mentored Macway  in the tournament sponsored by Smart Sports, Ironcon Builders, Star Bread, PTC Couriers, Dickies Underwear and Gerry’s Grill.
Nikko Lao, a 6-3 standout from  Manuel Luis Quezon University, and Lucky Boy Palogan led the way for NSJBI with 17 points
MBL is headed by  businessman-sportsman Alex Wang of    Wang’s Ballclub.
Anthony Sulit is the commissioner.
