A 50-year-old motorcycle-riding policeman and his back rider were killed by two unidentified MC-riding gunmen on national highway in Bgy. Putol, Tuy, Batangas.
Detective PO3 Benedict de Jesus identified the victims as PO3 Pedro Mulingbayan Oronico, of Bgy. Bayudbud, who is assigned at Tuy Police Station; and Adrian Jones Macalalad Gonzales, of Bgy. Luna, both in Tuy.
A concerned citizen reported the shooting incident at around 7 a.m.
Initial investigation disclosed that at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, the victims were aboard a black Rusi motorcycle (1681 WX) driven by PO3 Oronico and cruising along the national highway in Bgy. Putol when the two suspects suddenly ran too close behind and opened fire at the victims, using short firearms.
As the victims fell off their vehicle, the suspects momentarily stopped and again fired several shots at the victims before fleeing toward Balayan town.
The victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies and were taken to Medical Center, Western Batangas, Balayan, where they were declared dead on arrival by attending physician, Dra. Celeste Navarro.
Authorities recovered at the crime scene the black Rusi motorcycle (1681 WX), one slug and 11 spent shells for cal. .45.
Likewise, a Colt super .38 pistol with a magazine loaded with nine ammunition and two spare magazines loaded with 16 ammunition were found from PO3 Oronico.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives team processed the scene.
Tuy police immediately requested for dragnet operations in adjacent municipalities.
Authorities are currently conducting a full investigation at the crime scene for possible identification of the suspects.
