Saints too strong for Titans

IN the battle of unbeaten teams, St. Clare College-Caloocan had the last laugh over Enderun College.

St. Clare rode on the heroics of Jordan Rios to bring down erstwhile co-leader Enderun, 88-65, and assume the solo lead with its seventh atraight win in the 2016 NAASCU men's basketball tournament at the Enderun gym in Global City.

Rios exploded for a game-high 34 points, including 16 in the third quarter, to power the Saints of NAASCU chairman Dr. Ernesto Jay Adalem and coach Jinino Manansala to a surprisingly easy victory over the Titans.
   
Irvin Palencia added 15 points for the Caliocan City-based Saints, who struggled in the early goings but came charging back in the final two periods.
   
Collins Wabo,  a 6-9 prized  find from Cameroon,  finished with 15 points for the Titans, who dropped to 5-1.
   
In other games,  De Ocampo  Memorial College demolished EARIST, 126-92, for its fifth win in s ix outings; and Rizal Technological University outlasted  AMA University, 96-93, for its third win against the same number  of losses.
   
Dharell Caranguian fired 32 points and four other mainstays also scored in double figures for the  Ronnie Dojillo-mentored Cobras.
   
De Ocampo also got big numbers from Nino Macasling (18), Jonard Clarito (17), Deric DelaCruz (16) and Junar Wenceslao ( 11).
   
Dan Natividad carried the fight for EARISTwith 24 points.
   
The Thunder of coach Johnedel Cardel relied on Kerr Bangeles, Cyrus Tabi, Storm Riva, Cholo Senires and Roque Estoce in downing the Titans.
   
Jayson Jordan led AMA's losing cause with  24 markers.
