2 shanty dwellers hurt as scaffold collapses

A 44-year-old man and a four-year-boy were injured when scaffolding collapsed into a shanty were the victims were sleeping yesterday in Taguig City.

The victims, who were rushed to Taguig-Pateros District Hospital, were identified as Bong Bacolares and Miko Calderon, both living in the shanty along Panday Creek, Tipas, Taguig City.
Police said both victims suffered minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital after treatment.
Police report said the incident took place at 5 a.m. in Bgy. Palingon, Tipas.
PO2 Richard Liwanag and PO1 Fredie Pasino, who investigated the incident, said the scaffolding piled up by employees of Monocrete Company collapsed for still unclear reason and hit the shanty where the victims were sleeping.
They added that the incident was settled by both parties at the barangay hall of Palingon Tipas, Taguig City.
