Street food vendor shot dead

LIAN, Batangas -- A 33-year-old vendor was shot dead by an unidentified suspect while selling street food at the public market in Bgy. Poblacion 2, here, Wednesday night.

Lian police chief Senior Insp. Joel Espano identified the victim as Larry Cantela Espenilla, single, with live-in partner, of Bgy. San Diego, this town.
   
Espano said the incident was reported by a concerned citizen at 6:40 p.m.
   
Detectives PO3 Primitivo Macalindong Dayandayan and PO3 Marco Antonio Barcelon Villafria said the victim, who hails from Bgy. Cantona, Monreal, Masbate, was selling calamaris when shot by an unidentified suspect, who fled on a Yamaha Mio with an unknown plate number driven by a cohort toward Bgy. Poblacion 1, this town.
   
The victim sustained a gunshot wound at the back of his head. He was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dra. Solly Pisando at Apacible Memorial District Hospital in Nasugbu town.
   
A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team from Batangas PPO found a fired cartridge casing for cal. .45 at the scene.
