A one-year-and-six-months-old baby girl and an 11-year-old boy died while a four-year-old boy suffered first-degree burns in separate fire incidents in Muntinlupa and Las Piñas cities.
Supt. Gilbert Dulo identified the fatality in the fire incident in Muntinlupa as Princess Jamaica Maguilan. Her brother Steve Nash, 4, suffered first- degree burns in the right leg.
Princess Jamaica died from suffocation.
The fire allegedly started at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday at the house of the victims at 809 San Guillermo St., Purok 4, Bgy. Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.
Police identified the mother of the victims as a certain Emily Galegar, who was reportedly out of the house when the fire occurred.
Police said firemen managed to contain the fire after more than an hour later and finally declared fireout at 4:30 p.m.
In Las Piñas, the charred body of 11-year-old Alfred Arcilla was found inside their home on Chesa St., Golden Acres, Bgy. Talon V.
Police said the fire broke out at 12:35 a.m. yesterday and was declared under control after two hours.
The fire that displaced some 90 families gutted at least 60 houses mostly made of light materials.
Police said the fire took place while they were conducting an anti-illegal drug operation at the house of a certain Joseph Aldabe.
Residents claimed that the fire was intentionally set so the drug suspect could flee.
