A 32-year-old employee reportedly committed suicide in his room in Sampaloc, Manila, yesterday morning, reportedly out of fear over threats he had been receiving recently.
Well Boy Jimaol, a stay-in employee at the Don Benito’s Cassava Cake located at 929 Ibarra Street in Sampaloc, was found dead at the pantry of the said establishment located at the ground floor at around 7:30 a.m.
Det. Jonathan Bautista, of the Manila Police District (MPD)-Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (CAPIS), said the victim was last seen alive by his workmate Neil Branzuela at around 6 a.m. while on his way to the comfort room.
After more than an hour, the victim was found already dead and hanging by the neck with the use of a nylon cord.
Another colleague, identified as Israel Ricafort, told the police that last Thursday, he was able to talk to the victim at the overpass bridge of their establishment. There, the victim reportedly told him that he wanted to commit suicide since he had been receiving death threats.
Ricafort said the victim also said he could not go to the police about his problem since he does not trust them.
Ricafort told the police that he was able to prevent the victim from jumping off the bridge at that time and thought he had abandoned the idea of taking his life until he learned that he victim hung himself.
