WHAT was supposed to be a simple joke between friends turned deadly when one of them got piqued and stabbed the other dead in Intramuros, Manila, the other night.
Dead on the spot due to a stab wound in the chest and armpit is Richard Gonzales, 24, a truck helper, of 400 Solana St., Intramuros, Manila.
The suspect, who is now being hunted down by the police, was identified as Lito Amaro, 26, also residing in the same area.
Prober PO3 Bernardo Cayabyab of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the stabbing took place at around 2:20 p.m. near the victim’s home.
The victim reportedly tried teasing the suspect by taking his bicycle’s rim. When the suspect demanded for him to return the rim, the victim teased him all the more and said he won’t do it.
The suspect’s live-in partner Annie Garra told the police she also tried to get the said rim but merely got hurt as she failed to wrest possession of the rim.
This angered the suspect so he confronted the victim. A heated exchange of words occurred and led to fisticuffs.
The two were being pacified by relatives and neighbours when the suspect tripped, angering him even more. It was when he took out a fan knife and with it stabbed the victim dead before fleeing the scene on foot.
