Games today:

(Filoil Flying V Centre)

10 a.m. --  Jose Rizal vs. San Beda (J)

12 noon -- Letran vs. Mapua (J)

2 p.m. -- Jose Rizal vs. San Beda (S)

4 p.m. --  Letran vs. Mapua (S)

SAN BEDA eyes a first round sweep against underachieving Jose Rizal University, while defending champion Letran and Mapua clash for the solo fourth slot in the NCAA seniors basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Unbeaten in eight starts, the Red Lions are a cinch to win in their 2 p.m. tussle with the Bombers, who have failed to live up to their pre-season billing after winning only three games so far.
Both sporting 5-3 records, the Knights and the Cardinals will grind it out in the 4 p.m., as the winner will gain a one-game cushion in the race for the last semifinals berth heading into the second round.
Against JRU, San Beda can’t afford another erratic game just like in last Friday’s 87-77 victory over San Sebastian, where it committed a whooping 32 turnovers.
“It’s one problem we need to address on,” said Lions coach Jamike Jarin.
The Bombers continued to disappoint after absorbing their fifth defeat at the hands of Arellano University, 69-89, last Friday.
Letran seeks to bounce back a disappointing 72-75 defeat to Lyceum of the Philippines University while Mapua is coming off an embarrassing 51-71 loss to University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.
CJ Isit will miss his third consecutive game due to an injured finger, as the Cardinals need to find ways how to contain the Knights chief gunner Rey Nambatac.
For Letran, a strong offensive support outside Nambatac is what it badly needed to regain its winning ways.
“We need to play as a team and be consistent from start to finish,” said Knights coach Jeff Napa.
In juniors action yesterday, CSB-La Salle Greenhills (6-3) dealt erstwhile unbeaten Arellano (8-1) its first loss with a 98-69 win, while LPU (5-4) prevailed over San Sebastian (1-8), 84-65.
Joel Cagulangan chipped in 12 points and spiked his effort with five rebounds and six assists.
Arellano stayed on top with an 8-1 (win-loss) record while San Beda and Mapua come in second and third with 7-1 and 6-2 slate, respectively.
The Junior Blazers did it with a fluid offensive game by making 41 of the 77 shots they attempted.
