TWO Grade 5 pupils were killed while 11 others were injured when a speeding truck ran over them in Isabel, Leyte, police reported yesterday.
Report reaching the Public Commuters Motorists Alliance (PCMA) identified the victims as Roelyn Cotillas, 10, and Crislyn Moneset, 10.
Police said the incident occurred in Sitio Pingag, Bgy. Matlang, Isabel, Leyte.
Police said among the 11 injured was the truck driver, identified Jeffrey Bande, from Ormoc City.
Police said the driver of the truck loaded with LPG and acetylene cylinders lost control of the steering wheel, hitting the two young pupils who were walking on the roadside.
The truck went straight to a passing motorcycle and collided with a passenger bus and another vehicle before it crashed into two incoming tricycles.
The driver is now in police custody, facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and multiple serious injuries.
Police are still investigating the bloody incident.
