CABANATUAN City -- A former policeman, who was sacked from the service for his alleged links to criminal activities as suspected leader of a dreaded crime group, was killed by two motorcycle-riding assassins here, police said yesterday.
Killed was ex-PO1 Edmundo Plamenco, 38, of 344 Fajardo St., Bgy. Aduas Sur, this city.
He was tagged as the leader of the notorious “Edmundo Plamenco Group” allegedly engaged in motornapping, gun smuggling and illegal drugs trade and operating in this city and nearby towns.
City police commander Supt. Ponciano P. Zafra said the ex-cop was standing beside the store of Mary Jane Rosanto when the suspects aboard a motorcycle suddenly appeared at 8:45 p.m. and shot him repeatedly with a cal. .45 pistol.
Police recovered three fired cartridge cases and three fired bullets for cal. .45 pistol at the scene.
Zafra said the ex-cop was previously arrested by the Cabanatuan police for drug charges in November 2013.
He said Plamenco’s wife, Maritess, consented to have his husband’s body autopsied.
