PALAYAN City -- “Let us become allies and not adversaries.”

This was the challenge hurled to all elective officials by outgoing third district Rep. Czarina D. Umali, who was inaugurated yesterday as the first female governor of Nueva Ecija.
In her eight-minute inaugural speech, Umali vowed to prove her detractors wrong in the next three years of her administration as the new provincial chief executive, a post which she inherited from her husband, outgoing Gov. Aurelio M. Umali.
She said it will be to the best interest of the people of Nueva Ecija if elective officials choose to become allies and not adversaries.
“I believe it is easier for one to become an ally than an enemy. As your governor, my office is open in strengthening our coordination and cooperation,” she said in a mixture of English and Filipino.
She vowed that for the coming three years, “we will prove our detractors wrong.”
The new lady governor took her oath of office before Association of Barangay Chairmen (ABC) national president and Board Member Edmund R. Abesamis at the Sierra Madre Suites in this provincial capital yesterday morning.
She then administered the oath of office of other elected officials in the 27 municipalities and five component cities of the province.
