JUSTICE Secretary Leila de Lima yesterday vowed to include in the investigation into the death of San Beda Law student Marvin Reglos the officers of Lambda Rho Beta Fraternity.
De Lima stressed that the officers of the fraternity will be invited during the investigation to shed light on the student’s death, to find out the exact number of “brothers” who participated in the initiation rites.
She disclosed that she would leave the chore of inviting these officers to the Philippine National Police and National Bureau of Investigation.
De Lima bared that the NBI will conduct a parallel probe into the tragic death of Reglos.
She said a medico legal will be provided by the NBI to conduct its own autopsy.
“I-invite sila to possibly shed light and for further questioning. Kasi nga kahit may dalawa nang in custody, hindi pa natin alam kung ilan ang nagparticipate sa hazing. Sinu-sino at ilan ang present, ilan yung mga directly o actually nag-participate dun sa pagi-inflict ng physical harm,” De Lima stressed.
The Justice secretary, who is a member of the fraternity, called on her “brothers” to cooperate in the investigation.
The Supreme Court recently handed down its decision into the Leni Villa case, finding five fraternity men of the Aquila Legis fraternity responsible for Villa's death in initiation rites in February 1991.
