MAMANG PULIS -- THE Intelligence Research Center of the Philippine National Police Directorate for Intelligence is on its way to becoming a truly world-class office as it gears to become an International Organization for Standardization or ISO-certified unit that showcases best management practice this year.
So far, the only PNP units which are already ISO 9001:2008-certifed are the PNP Crime Laboratory, the Office of the Chief Philippine National Police, the PNP Civil Security Group, the PNP Training Service and the PNP Directorate for Human Resources and Doctrines Development.
The ISO 9001:2008 Certification Project of the PNP-DI Intelligence Research Center was officially launched last Wednesday by PNP Director for Intelligence Ager P. Ontog Jr. and new PNP Deputy Chief for Operations Deputy Director General Emelito T. Sarmiento.
The God-centered project is being undertaken by the IRC chief, Senior Superintendent Benigno B. Durana Jr., with the ACF Consultancy and Training Services represented by Ms. Angelica C. Fraginal.
Director Ontog said he is setting his sights on turning the entire PNP Directorate for Intelligence into an ISO-certified office that processes accurate intelligence information for consumption by the government.
Not all government offices are ISO-certified. However, the very few are being constantly awarded by the President for their genuine quality service.
With the ISO-certification, concerned PNP officials have assured that all their stakeholders will be best served through fast and efficient processing time apart from having an improved access to relevant information needed to strengthen partnership between the PNP and its stakeholders by advocating business-friendly services.
Achieving ISO Certification requires tedious process but once in place, it will provide the benchmark to best management standards and practices of the CSG, Sarmiento said.
Recently, President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III presented plaques of recognition for 79 ISO-certified government offices and line agencies including the very few from the PNP.
The awardees were cited for their professionalism, strong commitment and strong dedication in performing their duties as public servants. President Aquino said these ISO-certified offices also represent the number of allies that could help in the furtherance of good government and in ensuring the success of his promise of establishing the “tuwid na daan.”
