SOBRA-SOBRA ang pasasalamat ni Jerald Pelayo, graduate ng Mountain View College sa Bukidnon, matapos siyang kilalanin bilang topnotcher sa Nurse Licensure Examination na ginanap noong Dec. 18-19, 2011.
Nanguna si Pelayo sa 67,095 na kumuha ng Nursing Board Exams. Nagtamo siya ng 86.40 percent.
Sa report ng Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro, nagulat si Pelayo nang malaman niya ang balita. “Wala sa option ko na hindi mag-Top 10. Nandoon ang hopes ko,” ani Pelayo sa isang panayam.
Ayon pa kay Pelayo, higit na nagbigay inspirasyon sa kanya upang makamit ang matagal na niyang inaasam na tagumpay ay ang Diyos.
Valedictorian si Pelayo sa kanyang elementarya sa Masbate gayon din sa pinang- galingan niyang high school sa Cebu. Pinarangalan naman siya bilang summa cum laude sa Mountain View College sa Bukidnon.
Isang public school principal ang ama ni Pelayo habang government midwife naman ang ina nito. Lahat ng kanyang mga kapatid ay Nursing din ang kinukuhang kurso.
Sinundan ni Linsid Angelou Tapongot mula sa Xavier University sa iskor na 86 percent si Pelayo, habang si Joanne Samantari naman na graduate ng Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) ay nakakuha ng pangatlong puwesto sa 85.80 percent.
Ang examinations ay pinangunahan ng Board of Nursing sa Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, La Union, Legazpi, Lucena, Nueva Ecija, Pagadian, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao at Zamboanga noong nakaraang Disyembre.
Ang board ay binubuo nina Carmencita M. Abaquin, chairman, Leonila A. Faire, Betty F. Merritt, Perla G. Po, Marco Antonio C. Sto.Tomas, Yolanda C. Arugay and Amelia B. Rosales, mga miyembro.
