MALACAÑANG is mum on the list of early birds eyeing to run as senatoriables for the 2013 mid-year elections under Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte in a text message opted not to comment on the issue.
At least 18 politicians want to run under Binay’s banner in next year’s polls.
Former Senate President Ernesto Maceda said that he may “possibly” make a comeback in the elections next year under Binay’s coalition.
Maceda also mentioned incumbent Senators Francis Escudero, Loren Legarda, Gregorio Honasan and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III whom he claimed are already in Binay’s list.
The list also includes Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile’s son, Jackie Ponce Enrile, and businessman Joey de Venecia, son of former Speaker Jose de Venecia.
The list originally included Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara,adding that “ he might be induced to run under the Liberal Party,” Maceda said.
Angara is a spokesperson for the prosecution team against Chief Justice Renato Corona, who is being tried in the Senate.
