AMID a relatively fair weather on Valentine’s Day, Chief Public Attorney Persida V Rueda-Acosta gifted “love” to hundreds of inmates at the Makati City Jail in Bgy. North Sector, Guadalupe, Makati City, via her Public Attorney’s Office jail visitation and decongestion and legal, medical and dental mission.
Prison officials relaxed the rules on the visitation of kin of inmates by extending the hours as per directive of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
BJMP Director Rosendo Dial said the original 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. visiting schedule has been extended by three hours, allowing inmates to spend more time with their loved ones.
Dial, however, said the extension does not apply to all facilities.
Couples, who are both inmates, were given time to spend Valentine’s Day together, according to Dial.
Dial said security will be tightened to prevent any untoward incident in these detention facilities.
At the Makati City Jail, prison officials allowed conjugal visits for bonding purposes but certainly no overnight stay of couples and lovers.
