MALACAÑANG yesterday aired alarm over the attack on a Filipino boxer and his team in Argentina even as it tossed to the Department of Foreign Affairs the resolution for the recall of our ambassador to Argentina in connection with the unfortunate incident.
“We reiterate that we were concerned about what happened. However, with the passage of this resolution, we will defer to the action to be taken by the DFA in light of the resolution that was passed by our senators,” Palace assistant spokesperson Abigail Valte said.
Asked if the Palace would endorse the DFA resolution for the recall of our ambassador, Valte said that it is “something that has to be discussed to the DFA first.”
Earlier, the Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires has already filed a protest with Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the attack of a Filipino boxer and members of his team in Argentina.
In a text message, Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Raul Hernandez said “our embassy in Buenos Aires filed a protest on Feb. 13 two days after the attack on Feb. 11 which placed the safety and well-being of boxer Johnriel Casimero and his team at great danger.
