POLICE have been alerted on the possible presence of nine death convicts who escaped from an Iraqi prison last month and believed to have fled the war-torn country.
Philippine National Police Director for Investigation and Detective Management Director Samuel B. Diciano said they have received a global alert notice from the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO/Interpol) to be on the lookout for the Iraqi convicts.
An Interpol Orange Notice was officially transmitted to the Manila Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) Secretariat recommending “appropriate preventive measures” among police and border control units, he said.
In turn, the Interpol notice was transmitted by the Interpol Manila NCB headed by retired police Director Felizardo M. Serapio Jr. to the PNP Directorial Staff.
The 11 death convicts bolted the Duhok Prison in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq last January 7.
Two of the escaped convicts have been recaptured while nine identified asAbdul Aziz Yousif Said, Khalid Ahmded Abdul Aziz, Firhad Safer Abdullah, Ali Hussein Salih, Mahdi Salih Ibrahim, Fraidon Latif Sharif, Dawood Sulaiman Ibrahim, Mohammed Ahmed Ali and Ismat Sharif Redhwan remained at large.
