“It has been conclusively shown in the ongoing impeachment trial that Corona has not been telling the truth in his SALNs. It has been shown that he has failed to declare millions of pesos in his PSBank and BPI bank accounts,” wika ni Hontiveros.
“It has already been previously established that he declared his Bellagio penthouse unit in his SALN as worth only P6.8 million when he himself admitted that he bought it for P14.5 million. The same with his Burgundy condo unit, which he declared as worth only P870,000 when in fact he acquired it for P3.5 million.
“Dishonesty is inexcusable for a Chief Justice who should be a paragon of virtue and of unblemished integrity. Corona fails the test of probity with his misdeclarations and undervaluation of his properties and bank accounts in his SALNs,” pagtatapos ni Hontiveros.
“The Senate must stand its ground because under the Constitution, it is superior to the SC in any and all matters pertaining to the impeachment of Corona,” wika ni Bello.
“If the Senate gives in to the SC in this first instance, nothing will stop Corona’s pals at the SC from undermining further the authority of the Senate as an impeachment tribunal,” dagdag ni Bello.
“The biased TRO is pushing our country to the brink of a constitutional crisis. And those who try to cover up a crooked justice’s sins against the Filipinos are themselves crooks,” wika ni Bello.
