THE Pasay City Regional Trial Court ordered the two doctors of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to submit before the court the monthly medical report of their patient to determine if she needs further medication and to stay longer in the hospital.
Aside from the submission of the monthly medical report Pasay RTC Judge Jesus Mupas of Branch 112 also ordered Drs. Rafaelita Javier of the Rehabilitation Center and Orthopedic Surgeon and Antonio Sison of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center to submit the monthly medical expenses of the government for the physical and massage theraphy of the former president.
The court wanted to determine the exact amount the VMMC is allocating for the stay of Mrs. Arroyo at the government hospital because it is taxpayers money.
In the hearing yesterday on the motion of the Commission on Elections to transfer the former president to a regular jail, Atty. Esmeralda Lagra, one of the prosecution lawyers of the commission, did not oppose the recommendation of the doctors of the former president but agreed that the expenses should be submitted to the court.
Lagra said the government is spending huge amounts for the former president’s stay in the hospital, hence if she is already in good health she should be transferred to a regular jail.
The lawyer said that even if they are not opposing the continued stay of Mrs. Arroyo at the VMMC, they are not going to withdraw their pending motion and will let the court resolve if she will be transferred to a detention cell. Alvin Murcia
